Artist Statement
My artistic practice focuses on the intricate and dynamic relationship between humans and the natural world. Earlier in my work, I concentrated on the impact of human activity—urbanization, environmental degradation, and ecosystem vulnerability—using visual narratives to highlight our obligations to the environment. Recently, my focus has shifted toward the natural world’s resilience: its ability to withstand, adapt, and reclaim spaces once dominated by people. This thematic shift allows me to explore ideas of rebirth, cohabitation, and nature’s quiet persistence, often expressed through motifs like moss-covered structures, roots breaking through concrete, and wildflowers emerging in forgotten places.
I work across multiple media, including ceramics, mixed media, textile art, and digital illustration. This material diversity allows me to convey the organic complexity of the subjects I explore. Each medium offers a distinct viewpoint for depicting the tension—and occasional harmony—between the natural and the man-made. Through layered textures, natural forms, and color palettes inspired by various environments, I create works that embody the interplay between these two forces.
At the core of my practice is a deep respect for nature’s quiet perseverance. I am driven by a desire to understand our place within its constantly shifting landscape and to invite others to reflect on how we coexist with the natural world. My work aims to encourage contemplation about how we might restore or make space for nature, recognizing both our impact and nature’s remarkable capacity to endure.
